Booked!

Today me, Mom, and the Meemster went to San Luis and booked the date! So its official...Brian and I will be getting married October 22 of next year! Now I just have to figure everything else out. Like how many people are going to be there. 150-160 would be perfect. Anymore than that may mess up my budget! :)

San Luis Bridal Show

Today me, my Mom, and Brian's mom, Lisa, went to the Premier Bridal Show at the Galveston Island Convention Center. It was one of the best ones I have been to...not to mention the plethora of free cake! We talked to a horrid cake place, called The Cake Place haha. My mom even said "It looks like something we would make!" I finally got my mom sold on the photobooth idea after we took some pictures in one. It was fun and I think she realized people would enjoy it. Talked to some make up people that were orange, so mom nixed them. Another makeup girl had really bad skin and the makeup was not helping. Parvani Vida was there and claimed she designed these dresses that were actually knock offs of the ones we carry at Mia! On the bright side, we talked to a great photographer (a little too pricey), showed Lisa the San Luis, met a good dj, talked to the cake people I want, talked to a linen company, and got to meet probably the tackiest wedding planners in the world! If they can have a booth at a bridal show, I think I can make it okay! Although my mom made a few (like 12) comments about me not getting married in a church, I think she may be STARTING to accept it....we'll see.

Me and Brian plan on booking the San Luis tomorrow for our wedding and reception!!! Hopefully someone will be there to meet with us...if not then on Wednesday! Can't wait. It will feel so real when we actually have a location. Have to be sure to double check on the hurrican back up plan though!

Fighting over Flowers

So on Sunday, I was talking to my mom about whats on the wedding budget and what I want...which doesnt matter much to her! My plan is to have the ceremony at the San Luis along with the reception. Its about $1500 cheaper to have it there than a church. Mom is not loving this idea. She feels it is just "wrong" to not get married in a church. So we are arguing and she then suggests I hang a curcifix in the San Luis ceremony room to make it look like a church....Ummm. And then she was yelling that I have no idea how much flowers cost and I was yelling back that I don't care to spend $300 per table on flowers and I'd rather have my Chavari Chairs!!! So on Wednesday, BM, Courtney, and MOH, Stacy, went with me to my florist to discuss pricing. She did a quick rough estimate and the flowers came in about $500 under what I anticipated...I must admit though, that was the adjusted budget with me giving up my chairs. I can live with gold FITTED chair covers. Hopefully I can find them! Who puts all this crap together? Usually I do it for other people, whos gonna do it for me??

Also during the Sunday Night Showdown, my mom changed the dresses of the bridal party. They are pretty groovy though. And all my girls get to show thier individuality instead of looking like badly attired clones. Jill (SOB) will be in Royal Blue, Stacy (MOH) will be in gold, JoJo (BM) will be in red, Courtney (BM) will be in bright purple, and Brittany (BM) will be in teal, the teal. The flowers Mrs. Crowder came up with will be amazing with these dresses!

We (B, MOB, MOG) are going to the Bridal Show in Galveston on March 14 and I have made a list of questions for potential vendors. My current focus is on how to decorate the ceremony room by making it not look like a hotel meeting room...sans crucifix that is!
