I'm sorry....what?!

Of course...it was bound to happen despite my extensive, long term wedding planning. Major wedding crisis that usually only seems like a world-ending event to the bride...no one else usually gives a shit. Well being the bride in this scenario really sucks!
Everything, wedding wise, had been going according to plan. Got the save the dates out, invitations ordered, guest list finalized, etc. Well so I email my makeup artist that we booked over a year ago A) to verify her existence in the makeup world and B) to check her availability in August for Bridal Portraits. After 4 days of no response, I start to panic (dramatic I know but with no job, 4 days feels like 12!) So I start frantically emailing makeup/hair artists who are in area and available. 50% deposit? How much is your travel fee? You can do makeup but are too busy for hair? Yes...this was fun. Not!
So while I start getting a stress zit over this, I get a phone call from Brickhouse Bridal (the place we got our bridesmaids dresses). And they called a few weeks ago so I decided this time I better answer. I assumed it would be about Courtney not putting a deposit down on her dress and I just answered to let them know she purchased a dress from a different store. So I am speaking with the girl and, yes, it was about the dress Courtney had tried on and they said that she had not yet paid her deposit. I let them know that she had decided to go with a dress from another store and just as I was getting ready to end the conversation, I hear "Ok, well we will go ahead and order the other dresses, then." I'm sorry, WHAT?!!! My heart began to race and I'm pretty sure I broke out into hives for about 10 minutes! We ordered their dresses over TWO MONTHS ago!!! And you're ordering them today?!! So, in a very distressed tone, I asked her when they were supposed to get in now. Well, they should be here in about 12 weeks. 12 weeks?! That's just a month before the wedding. They all work and your shop is over an hour away AND they'll need alterations! Hence, why we ordered the dresses two freaking months ago.
Now, normally I would just hang up, pout, maybe if have a little cry if no one is watching...But it's now officially less than 4 months until the wedding and the bridezilla beast has been begging to get out. I unleashed it's cage.
Well...cracked it open! I actually called back and demanded to speak to a manager. (Having worked at their sister store, I know who the managers are and, as far as I know, this was NOT a manager) After explaining the situation and why I was so upset, she had the nerve to treat me like a typical over reacting bride that was no concern of hers. She explained how it's their typical policy to order all the dresses at one time. Why? They aren't the same color so they don't need to come from the same dye lot or anything, they aren't even the same designer! And they were paid in full TWO MONTHS AGO!!!! I was beyond pissed. And then she got snippy and said "Well, we've emailed you several times" Umm...never got an email. "We have CMasters15...." Well, genius, that C is an L...ya know, for Laura. "Oh...well we apologize for that but it looks like a C." And basically after suggesting that my BRIDESMAIDS pay for rush charges, that was pretty much the end of the conversation. So I did what any other on the verge bride does...I told my mom.
She is going to call them tomorrow.
These dresses are ESTIMATED to be in by early September. My dress was ESTIMATED to come in early April and didn't get here until April 30. Panic mode has officially set in and I've got two huge stress zits on my face to show for it!
But on the bright side, my wedding shoes came in today!!! They are beyond precious!!! They basically scream Laura, ya know, with an L!

Two, Please!

Ok so it's been awhile since my last post...been busy being unemployed. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, we went to the San Luis to taste the menu for the wedding...fun right? Oh yes! Brian and I had our pre-marital counseling that morning with Father Paul so we were already on the island. We had a two hour span between the meeting at the church and the meeting at the San Luis and we asked ourselves "Should we eat?!" It was already noon and we were both very hungry and we had no idea what to expect at the tasting. Was it a full meal? Was it literally just a TASTE (and we'd leave with grumbling bellies)? Hmm...In the end our stomachs won and we had a light lunch (salads or something). Then we headed to meet up with my parents. It was my dad's first wedding planning event. He was SO excited! What a good choice for the one wedding planning activity to join in on though, right?! I'll be sure to include him in the cake tasting, too! The man with the money SHOULD be able to have his cake and eat it, too! When we got to the San Luis, we soon realized that we should NOT have eaten! It was such a nice little event for us. We had a little private corner in the restaurant of the San Luis and our own private waiter that called us all by name. He walked around with generous samples of wine (yes, of course, I had too much!), offered a choice of bread, then brought out two selections of salad. I had the Caesar salad and Brian had the garden salad. Mom and Dad had one or the other. Then our waiter walked around with a serving tray and offered a selection of dressings. We decided the garden salad was probably a much more popular choice so we are going with that. Then we got our meal, and Oh.My.God it was good! We were initially tasting the spinach chicken breast we selected (because Jilly did NOT want the "chipper chicken")and a piece of steak (we were going with prime rib but it too much hassle to make for 5 people so we had steak). After eating chicken breast almost everyday my freshmen year in college, it's never my first choice to eat but this was so tasty and delicious! And I'm not much of a steak person either, but this filet "was like buttah!" Awesome! My parents were very pleased as well. And, oh, the mashed potatoes! I can't believe I almost forgot about the potatoes! As anyone could tell you, I am obsessed with mashed potatoes (hence my big ass!). So I was super excited to see those on the plate. During the meal, I got out my list of questions for Stacey, which took some effort because at this point I was very full and, to be honest, little drunk! But we finished our meeting and our meal and everyone was full and happy.

Since our food was so good, my oh-so-generous father of the bride decided to go ahead and serve our oh-so-lucky guests the same delicious meal we were served at the tasting. So everyone (except our two vegetarians) will get the chicken, a filet, mashed potatoes, and asparagus (which I don't normally like but these were great!). I am such a lucky girl to have my dad! My dream wedding would not be possible without him! And my mom too, of course! Because "a man may be the head of the family but the woman is the neck. She can turn the head anyway she wants!" Bonus points if you can name that movie!
Current Task: Invitations! Already designed them and ordered 3 samples just to make sure I like them (typical control freak!). Plan on ordering them this weekend then I have to figure out how to "decoratively close" them.
141 Days to go!! Holy crap, time is flying!
