Engagement Pictures!!

Today was the long awaited engagement picture day! I was so excited I could barely sleep last night! It was so fun getting up, getting my tan on, my nails done, and getting my hair done. Oh, and getting my picture taken for 2 hours wasn't half bad either! However, getting my nails done is never really a treat for me. Once I'm done, they're great. But while they are putting them on...whooo! So painful! But I always say if I'm not bleeding when I leave the nail salon, they done good! :)
Then I walked next door to get my hair done...always a treat! I was a little nervous about how long it was going to take to curl ALL this hair, but it worked out great. The three cars (mine, the photographers, and the T-Bird) all arrived at the exact same time. AND the weather was perfect! I was so worried. I checked the weather channel app on my phone about 4 times a day! So we were really happy to have such great weather.

So lucky for me I am blessed to have an oh-so-generous Aunt and Uncle that allowed me to use the well known T-Bird. Aunt Diane drove my mom and that beautiful beast of a car all the way down to Galveston for us to use. (First a kitchenaid, now this?! So lucky!) We used mom and Diane as our assistants on our "photo shoot." They held our sunglasses and my lip gloss and brought stuff to us if we needed it. I felt like I had a momager!

Anyway, our photographers are so nice. They are both just such friendly people...who don't think Brian and I are "passionate" enough. Sad right? I think in the 5 years Brian and I have been together, we have never been that close together for that long! And...it got kind of awkward when we were sitting outside the church taking our less than passionate pictures (but felt pretty intimate to me!), and the priest who is going to marry us walks outside and starts watching. I know I can be a little conservation at times, but I think this would have made anyone squirm a bit.

So here are some pics from the day that my "momager" took! :) Can't wait to get the professional pictures back!

Love my Momager!

Bridesmaid Dresses!

Last week, me, Mom, and Courtney headed up to Houston to check out Bridesmaid dresses. We went to Ventura's Bridal because I heard it was cheaper and they had some dress lines I liked.

We didn't have an appt but luckily the lady was still really nice and helpful. And this lady SO looked like Oprah! (A skinnier, younger version but still very Oprah-ish!) We went through all the dresses (and after we giggled our way through the ugly ones) and found a few we liked.
Apparently not this one though!

Picking out bridesmaid dresses is way funner than your wedding dress! A) I'm not wearing it so I don't have to try anything on and B) They are some ugly ass bridesmaids dresses out there!

We saw one like that on David Tutera and absolutely hated it! It's just so...
Anyway, we got Courtney to try on some dresses, most of which were too big! But we had a lot of fun!

Ok and I just had to put this dress on! It was so cute and poofy! And short! So fifties!! It was calling my name!

So after we left Ventura's, we met up with Jill and Stacie for lunch. Jill was so excited to hear all about the bridesmaids dresses we found. She is so eager to try dresses on and pick hers out! She just can't wait to get that dress and get her hair and makeup done! I think she just may burst with excitement!
Ok back to reality....then we went to the rental place and I got a couple things.
Then we headed to Impression Bridal at Bay Area.

I was really hoping to find something there because it's so close and would be convenient for 3/4 of the girls. However, that was not the case. Nothing was very cute and the b!tch of a sales lady was rude as H3ll! So we were gone about 3 seconds after we took that picture!

These were the last set of pictures that would fit in my scrapbook. Sad. BUT I went to Michael's and found a new scrapbook! Holy Martha! It is covered in silver glitter (so of course, Doody loves it!). So excited to get it started with our engagement picture session on Wednesday!!

1 point for Team Bride!

As I'm sure everyone knows by now...Meme's dress was beginning to make my hair fall out. The mauve, 40-year old dress was just not what I envisioned my favorite grandparent in! But the gods smiled down on me!! The "oldie but NOT a goodie" dress will NOT be making an appearance in my wedding pictures! (cue Angelic chorus and sun beams) We will, however, see it at the rehearsal dinner. Honestly, that doesn't bother me one bit! At least the urge to wear the dress will have been fulfilled. I won't post a picture of the new dress she is wearing but it is very nice and she looks like the fabulous Meme we know and love!

As for my mother's dress...she's still wearing it BUT it is definitely not what I had pictured in my head. I hadn't seen the dress in about 2 years and after I heard about the slit, I had a very tight fitting dress in my head. She put the infamous dress on for me the other day and I completely changed my mind about it. She looks totally fabulous! And being the woman she is, I shouldn't have expected anything else! The dress is not nearly as fitted as I thought and you have to go searching to even find the slit. The sheer back, not so sheer. She looks great! I'm not too ashamed I admit I was wrong!

Now we can put the dress debacle behind us and move on to EVERYTHING else that needs to get done!

Princess in Progress

This past Sunday, Jill, Stacie and I threw Paige a baby shower for her little "Princess in Progress."

Jilly made the food that was so great. She even googled a punch recipe and made it! Too bad I was hung up on mimosas and didn't get to try it! sad.
It was so great to see everyone and see all the precious new clothes baby Alexis will look oh-so-baby-fabulous in! I think we put on a successful shower!

And we decided for my bridal shower, we are doing a Stepford wife/ 50's housewife theme! Cannot wait for that! I've already been looking for outfits!

Ready for Beer on the Pier!

After going back and forth on the rehearsal dinner location, we finally decided on the Fisherman's Wharf. It's a little less expensive for more food and a better view. Since a lot of our guests are out-of-towners, we wanted them to get a good Galveston experience. Well, ya know, as good as Galveston can be! The room overlooks the pier and the water and has a good view of the Elissa. Hopefully everyone will have a good time!
